Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say that pd-for-android is really awesome. I was able to get up and going pretty quickly. Downloading the PD Vanilla and going through the examples/tutorials was pretty easy, and getting a simple grid based controller communicating was also a delight.
I however am having problems with Android throwing back some nasty hiss/crackle when trying to play more than 2/3 notes on each step of my grid.
When I try to play multiple notes at the same time in my PD patch it works absolutely fine with no problems.
I basically took audio example D12 from the PD package as the start of my audio sampler/sequencer. Loading in one short piano middle c note (I tried it at 44100 and 11025) I'm able to sample play back anything I like.
Doing some research on Android Audio (I've only been developing on Android for a week), I found that there are currently some audio limitations going right now so I figured this might be related. I'm wondering if if this is something that you've been seeing as well.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S phone (Captivate) running on 2.1. I also took the setup code from the CircleOfFifths as my reference point so it's not using the Service approach that I saw in a few other examples.
Thanks!
